The Bodenmatten Arboretum
The arboretum, located on a former meadow converted into a fir forest in the 1970s, was redesigned after the 1999 storm and bark beetle attacks in 2004. The area was developed with two ponds and replanted with the participation of local school children, who sponsored about a hundred trees and shrubs.
Today, nearly 180 species can be found, including willows, oaks, pear trees, and apple trees, along with diverse wildlife such as frogs, snails, crustaceans, and birds. Educational panels line the paths to provide information about the trees encountered, while plaques also display the names of the children who helped plant them. To enhance the experience, a sports and play trail was recently installed, extending the equipment available in the nearby leisure area behind the stadium.
