The Castles of Ottrott
Perched above the town of Ottrott, two medieval castles face each other over the Alsace plain: Rathsamhausen and Lutzelbourg, separated by only a few dozen meters.
Rathsamhausen is notable for its donjon-palace, a unique building in Alsace whose significant remains offer a fascinating glimpse into the lifestyle of its former inhabitants. These majestic ruins dominate the landscape and bear witness to the region's medieval history. To reach them, leave Klingenthal heading towards Mont Sainte-Odile, then turn left towards the "Eichwaeldel" residence where parking is available at the entrance to the housing estate. A forest path of about 1 km then leads to the castles. Another starting point is possible from the Ottrott Tourist Office.
The site is only accessible on Tuesday mornings from 9 am to 12 pm and all day Saturday, these times corresponding to worksite days.
