The Chapel of Our Lady of the Oak

The chapel, built in 1757 to replace an older sanctuary, was completely destroyed in 1940.

Located to the west of the village, it housed monumental paintings mainly attributed to Oster of Strasbourg, dating from around 1830.

These works were restored around 1920 by painters Fenger from Niederlauterbach and Eisenmann from Lauterbourg.

The chapel also held many ex-votos, none of which survive today. Its eleven stained glass windows made of glass slabs, created in 1962 by Tristan Ruhlmann, still adorn the site: six in the nave depict themes related to the Virgin, four in the choir feature geometric patterns, and one is located in the oculus of the gable.
