The Collegiate Church of Saint Thiébaut
After Strasbourg Cathedral, the Collegiate Church of Thann stands out as one of the most emblematic buildings of Rhenish Gothic architecture in Alsace. This exceptional monument embodies the three major phases of Gothic art: early, radiant, and flamboyant. Its name comes from the college of canons established there in 1442, but its construction spanned over two centuries, beginning at the end of the 13th century and finishing in 1516.
The west facade impresses with its triple tympanum portal, a true sculptural masterpiece featuring more than five hundred figures.
Inside, the Collegiate Church reveals two remarkable chapels: that of Saint Thiébaut and the one dedicated to the Virgin.
The choir houses stalls and stained glass windows from the 15th century, bearing witness to the artistic richness of that era.
