The Dance of the Three
In 2005, artist Alix Vonderweidt installed a work titled *The Dance of the Three* at the Nouveau Bassin.
Made of carved wood, this sculpture features three nearly identical forms rising from a common base, their curves intertwining like a dance.
The circular movement and waves created by the artist enhance this impression of a round dance, while the silhouettes and heads at the top suggest three distinct but connected figures.
The work is inspired by the idea of symbolizing three neighboring countries: Switzerland, Germany, and France.
Despite their unique histories and politics, these nations share a common foundation that gives them strength and energy to rise together.
Their dance illustrates both their historical and geographical unity and their ability to evolve separately while remaining inseparable.
