The Dominicans of Upper Alsace
The Dominican Convent, a classified Historic Monument, is an iconic site in Guebwiller managed by the European Collectivity of Alsace. Designated a Cultural Meeting Center in 2014, it focuses on music, digital arts, cabaret, and botanical arts, contributing to the city receiving the "Golden Flower" label in 2024. This 14th-century Rhineland heritage site houses several spaces dedicated to a diverse artistic program, blending multiple aesthetics and bold experiments. It also hosts artists in residence from around the world who collaborate with the digital creation center team, an innovative laboratory founded in 2011. This center develops cutting-edge technologies, notably in geodesy, and offers artistic activities to raise young people's awareness of creativity. Located near Basel and Freiburg, the Convent promotes cross-border exchanges within the Rhine region. Open free to the public during summer and Christmas festivities, it is accessible Wednesday to Sunday from 2 pm to 6:30 pm in July and August, and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 pm to 8 pm in December.
