The Fortified Refuge

Dive into Alsatian medieval history at the heart of a unique interpretation center: the remains of a 13th-century fortified refuge, the Kirchhof.

This exceptional site once combined a church and its ecclesiastical enclosure, transformed into a stronghold to protect the local population.

During conflicts of the time, peasants sought refuge here, creating habitat-refuge cells called "Gadens." These remains testify to a period when collective security was paramount, offering a fascinating glimpse into life and survival strategies in the Middle Ages.
