The Fountains
The Bruche Valley is notable for its villages dotted with two-basin fountains, structures that are both practical and aesthetic. These fountains, mostly built in the 19th century, played an essential role in daily life: they helped prevent fire risks, supplied residents with running water, and served as watering troughs for livestock and washhouses for laundry. Some of these fountains, such as those in Wisches-Hersbach, stand out for their artistic value and have become true sculptural masterpieces. The commune of Saâles particularly illustrates this richness with more than 25 public fountains still visible today.
