The Garden of Two Banks

On both sides of the Rhine, near the city center of Strasbourg, the Jardin des Deux Rives embodies reconciliation and friendship between France and Germany. This borderless park spans 150 hectares and offers a varied cultural program throughout the seasons: concerts, dance performances, circus shows, attracting a mixed audience of French, German, and international visitors.

A bold footbridge, designed by architect Marc Mimram, connects the two riverbanks. Accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, it provides a unique walk through an international perspective, becoming a symbol of peace and unity.

It was on this bridge, a symbol of unity, that world leaders gathered in 2009 for a historic photo during the NATO summit.
