The Guebwiller Vineyard
Perched on a mountainside north of Guebwiller, the vineyard stretches over dizzying slopes with inclines up to 50°, between 250 and 390 meters in altitude. Benefiting from triple sun exposure (southwest, south, southeast), it stands out as one of the most impressive in Alsace. Guebwiller is the only town in the region to have four classified Grand Crus on its territory: Spiegel, Kessler, Kitterlé, and Saering.
Its landscape is marked by nearly 50 kilometers of stone walls, a network representing two and a half times the volume of stone used to build Strasbourg Cathedral. Their maintenance, entrusted to four specialized masons, takes place throughout the year, highlighting the historical and cultural importance of these structures.
To discover this vineyard, guided tours are offered every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in July and August, as well as year-round outside of harvest periods, by reservation for groups. It is also possible to explore it freely or with audio guides available for rent at the Guebwiller Tourist Office.
