The Historic Center

Cernay, a former fortified town in the Middle Ages, has preserved remnants from that era. The town center, laid out in a square plan inherited from the old town, reflects this history.

The Porte de Thann, a classified historical monument, now houses the city museum, which traces its past and heritage. Once specialized in the textile industry in the 19th century, Cernay has transformed into a dynamic economic and industrial hub. Located at the junction of two of Alsace's most beautiful tourist routes, the Wine Route and the Ridge Route, it is an essential stop for travelers.
