The Hundsbach Mill
The Hundsbach mill ceased operations in 1925, but its interior remains frozen in time: the machinery, consisting of three pairs of millstones, as well as the worker's room upstairs, are still intact. Although the water wheel and the water supply channel have disappeared outside, the current building, dating from the 18th century, bears witness to centuries of operation. Indeed, the existence of this mill is documented as early as 1394, making it a major heritage element of the Thalbach valley.
Today, the owners, supported by an association, are gradually restoring all the buildings to bring this historic site back to life. The mill is now open to the public, offering a dive into the industrial past of the region. It is set in a green environment, in the heart of the Hundsbach valley, a true paradise for cyclists and hikers.
Guided tours are organized for individuals and groups, by reservation, from April to October. The site also participates in special events such as Heritage Day in September, the National Mill Day in June, and Melhi'arts in August.
