The Junk

The work *La Jonque*, created by Vincente Blanchard, originally from Rouen and installed in Mulhouse, continues his artistic journey marked by several public commissions and monumental works in Alsace, notably in Altkirch.

This sculpture, made of patinated bronze, is enhanced with a unique mixture of sand and cement, giving it a texture similar to mortar.

This material appears to gradually flow between the metal elements, giving the impression of slowly submerging the structure, as if stone naturally emerges from the metal form.

*La Jonque* maintains a close dialogue with its environment, reflecting the artist's constant attachment to nature. This connection is also found in his series titled *Les invertébrés*, evoking animals such as insects or crustaceans, as well as in the very title of the work, which refers to a traditional Asian boat, symbolizing harmony with water and natural elements.
