The Old Boys' School

This public building is the first constructed in Alsace after its annexation to the German Empire in 1871.

Designed to comply with the German law on compulsory schooling, it was expanded in 1903.

Its construction owes much to a donation from Yvan Zuber, a wallpaper manufacturer and mayor of the town twice, from 1859 to 1872 and then from 1886 to 1902.

Nearby, at the beginning of Saint Jean Street, stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, the patron saint of bridges and rivers.
