The Painted Walls of Place de la Réunion
The Place de la Réunion in Mulhouse is distinguished by its houses with walls adorned with traditional Mulhouse paintings. Several of these remarkable murals can be found at numbers 1, 2, 7, and 9 on the square.
To the left of the town hall, a house features painted scissors, symbols of the tailors' stove that was once installed there.
Not far from there, the Maison Mieg, named after its former owner, draws attention with its facade imitating white stones. Two painted coats of arms on this house recall its owner's attachment to Switzerland: one depicts a commemorative monument of the Battle of Sempach, and the other features the Swiss hero Von Winkelried.
