The Ramparts

Built in the 13th century, these ramparts were extensively modified between 1746 and 1748 under the direction of Marshal de Cormontaigne. He adapted their structure to the evolving defense techniques of his time, giving them a new strategic dimension. These works demonstrate the desire to strengthen fortifications to meet contemporary military challenges.
