The Rangen Vineyard

Perched in Thann, the Rangen vineyard is the southernmost in Alsace and the only one in the region entirely classified as Grand Cru.

Its slopes, facing due south between 350 and 450 meters in altitude, cover 22 hectares and feature inclines up to 45 degrees.

This terroir owes its reputation to its volcanic soil and the proximity of the Thur river, which ensures the moisture necessary for grape ripening.

The harvests here are often spectacular and perilous, with some pickers roped like climbers on the steep slopes, offering an unforgettable spectacle for both spectators and participants. The Rangen produces four exceptional grape varieties: Riesling, a mineral and full-bodied wine with complex notes; Pinot Gris, ample and powerful, marked by smoky aromas and lively acidity; Gewürztraminer, typical of Alsace, aromatic and fruity; and Muscat, dry and aromatic with a distinctive fruitiness. To explore this vineyard, a marked trail offers three walks suitable for all levels, provided you bring a hat.
