The Roman Ruins of Mackwiller

The Gallo-Roman remains of Mackwiller testify to the existence of a vast villa, symbolizing the wealth of its owner, a member of the Roman Empire's elite.

Today, only a few elements are visible, as most of the estate likely remains buried beneath the current village.

However, the discovery of the baths and mausoleum, along with a dedicated historical presentation, offers visitors an authentic glimpse into daily life in that distant era. Accessible year-round for self-guided visits thanks to playful and educational panels on site, these remains can also be explored during guided tours upon request. For an interactive experience, a smartphone archaeological investigation titled "The Lost Archives of Mackwiller" is also offered.
