The Rossberg Tower
In 1901, the Club Vosgien of Ferrette erected a wooden lookout at the summit of Rossberg. Destroyed by a storm in 1905, it was rebuilt the following year as a 16.7-meter-high metal tower, inaugurated on July 15, 1906. The wooden stairs, replaced by metal elements in 1925, have undergone regular maintenance, notably between 1978 and 1988, carried out by club volunteers. In 2008, the tower was completely renovated, secured, and raised to reach 20 meters. From its summit, the panorama extends over the Jura, Black Forest, Vosges, and, in clear weather, the Bernese Alps. Access is on foot in 20 minutes from the Ferrette motorhome parking area. It is also possible to take a longer 8 km loop starting from Ferrette or Vieux-Ferrette.
