The Schweissdissi by Yves Carrey

The Schweissdissi, a landmark work in the city of Mulhouse, stands as a powerful symbol of its rich industrial heritage.

Located on rue du Sauvage, this seated figure directly evokes unemployment and the shutdown of major Mulhouse factories, marking a significant chapter in the local economic history.

Created by artist Yves Carrey in 2010, the sculpture is mainly made from automotive mechanical parts sourced from recycling companies and the artist's personal collection of scrap. It thus illustrates the transformation of industrial materials into art while paying tribute to the working-class legacy of the Cité du Bollwerk.
