The Silberthal Valley
Nestled in the heart of a dense forest, the Silberthal valley holds traces of intense mining activity. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, its veins of iron and silver-bearing lead attracted generations of miners, making this site a hub of intense activity. With nearly two hundred mining works scattered across the area, the valley has a turbulent history, marked by early beginnings around 1250 and a final closure in 1905. Today, this underground and industrial heritage can be explored via developed trails, while the Saint Nicolas Mine, open from April to October, offers guided tours. These routes allow visitors to immerse themselves in the miners' world while exploring a preserved natural environment where forests and waterfalls blend harmoniously.
