The Tumuli
Located just 4 kilometers south of Ohnenheim, this archaeological site features several tumuli, the burial mounds characteristic of the Celtic era. Some of these mounds contained precious items, such as gold jewelry, which are now preserved and displayed at the National Archaeology Museum in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
Among the major discoveries is also a Celtic chariot, reconstructed and on view at the Roman-Germanic Central Museum in Mainz. These tombs, built by the Celts to honor their deceased, reflect their culture and funerary practices, offering a fascinating insight into their history and craftsmanship.
