The Vieux-Thann Vineyard
The Vieux-Thann vineyard stands out for its terraced layout, a unique feature in this region. It consists of two named plots: L'Enchenberg, covering 4 hectares and mainly producing Riesling and Pinot Gris, and Kirchberg, spanning 1.4 hectares of Pinot Gris grapes primarily used for making Crémant, a fresh and sparkling wine. This technique, mastered by local winemakers, highlights the freshness of the wines produced.
Perched on the heights, the vineyard reveals itself to those who look up.
The winemakers adapted to the very hilly terrain by creating terraces on the slopes. The oldest terraces, supported by dry stone walls, form harmonious lines in the landscape. These terraces, where rows of vines are aligned, create a remarkable and rare visual spectacle in the region.
