The Wachtfelsen

Overlooking the landscape, this imposing rocky promontory served as a strategic lookout post during the Middle Ages. Today, one can discover the remains of an ancient Gallo-Roman temple dedicated to Mercury, which once stood on the site where the Wasenbourg Castle now stands. This site thus bears witness to the layering of eras, blending ancient heritage with medieval fortifications.
