The Water Tower

Built in 1906 under the impetus of the military administration, this water tower marks the beginning of Sélestat's drinking water network.

Originally, the municipality had rejected the project in the 1880s due to its cost and technical challenges.

It was only in 1887, under pressure from the military authorities, that it finally gave in, thus giving birth to the city's water infrastructure.

Even today, the water tower remains in service and can only be visited from the outside.
