The Windeck Estate Park
On the border between Ottrott-le-Bas and Ottrott-le-Haut, the Windeck Castle and its park form an iconic ensemble of the region. Although well known to locals, the history of this former lordship and the botanical richness of its grounds remain little known to the general public. The castle, built in the 19th century, now houses a charity center and stands at the top of the park, offering breathtaking views of the surroundings. Behind it stretches an 11-hectare park, a true open-air museum. Its carefully designed layout, studied perspectives, and tiered ponds create a remarkable visual harmony. The 126 recorded tree varieties are divided into three categories: exotic species, American flora, and European trees. Ranked among the most beautiful parks in Alsace, this estate elegantly combines nature and architecture. Visitors must announce themselves at the entrance to visit.
