The Zoutma
Véronique Werner, a visual artist from Mulhouse, creates murals, sculptures, and decorative objects by assembling recycled materials. She embeds fragments of glass or ceramics in cement to bring her creations to life.
Alongside her studio work, she takes on external commissions, mainly for private clients. She also regularly works with diverse groups, sometimes facing challenges, using mosaic as a tool for expression, communication, and exchange. These workshops often culminate in exhibitions of the produced artworks.
In 2008, as part of the "Summer Sculptures" organized by the City of Mulhouse, she created a series of four oversized thrones, one of which, named "Zoutma," is inspired by club chairs with its rounded shapes and assembled elements. This throne, co-created with Yves Carrey, is made from oil tanks and metal drums, incorporating industrial materials. The four pieces, accessible to all thanks to adapted heights, invite the public to sit, experience different sensations depending on the throne chosen, and take photos alone or in groups. The "Zoutma," in particular, is urban and friendly, designed to accommodate up to five people and allowing visitors to leave a mark, such as a tag or an engraved message.
