Théodore Headframe and Pithead
On September 15, 1911, the German mining company Wintershalle, owner of the Théodore concessions, began sinking the shaft.
Between 1920 and 1930, the headframe was modernized to meet the growing needs of the operation.
Mining ended in 1986 after extracting a total of 67,743,935 tons of raw ore.
The Théodore shaft headframe, erected in 1958 to replace the original 1912 structure, stands 65 meters tall. Entirely metal, it represents a technical achievement of its time.
Decommissioned when the site closed, it was listed as a historic monument on August 17, 1995, becoming a lasting testimony to industrial history.
