Town Hall or Turret and Jacquemart Clock

This majestic building, a symbol of the town, was erected in 1531.

Its Renaissance-inspired turret dominates the structure and houses a Jacquemart clock installed in 1620. The remarkable mechanism features three oak wood automatons, each with a distinct identity and symbolism: Prudentia embodies wisdom, a skeleton represents Death, and Justitia personifies justice, sometimes nicknamed Stuebenhansel.

Local archives hold a 1619 invoice signed by the Strasbourg sculptor Master Johann Föbe, detailing the names of the automatons and their creator.

Guided tours are offered during the season by reservation, and a brochure is available for more information.
