Trinity Stele
This modest monument, steeped in history, stands in the Haslach state forest along the path leading to Still and Heiligenberg after the "imperial road."
It is the Trinity stele, dating back to the dark period of the Terror in Alsace between 1793 and 1794. At that time, Schneider's guillotine, installed in Mutzig, spread terror in the surrounding villages, notably Niederhaslach, where citizens were sentenced to death for their counter-revolutionary beliefs.
Sentenced to capital punishment, these men vowed to erect a monument in honor of the Holy Trinity if they escaped their fate. Their prayer was answered: the guillotine, which was to execute them, broke down during its passage through Mutzig. Freed, they kept their promise and erected this stele as a sign of gratitude and faith.
