Truchtersheim

Perched beneath its iconic water tower, Truchtersheim stretches across the center of Kochersberg, a hilly agricultural region west of Strasbourg.

Since 1887, the town has been connected to the Alsatian capital by tram, boosting its economic and social growth. The line, used by freight trains carrying sugar beets, passengers, mail, and high school students, was permanently closed in 1953. However, it remained in service until 1956 exclusively for sugar beet transport before being replaced by buses.

The Saints Peter and Paul Church, built in 1964, stands out with its colorful stained glass windows created by master glassmaker Thierry Ruhlmann. Since March 2017, the village has hosted l'esKapade, a modern cultural center housed in a renovated old house. This versatile venue includes the Maison du Kochersberg, a Tourist Office, an artist’s workshop, an Italian restaurant, and spaces dedicated to conferences and 180° screenings.

For nature lovers, Truchtersheim is crisscrossed by trails marked by the Club Vosgien and offers an eco-educational park equipped with a fitness trail.
