Truttenhausen Abbey
Founded between 1180 and 1181 by Herrade de Landsberg, this Augustinian canons' priory also housed a hospital for the sick and a hospice for pilgrims. Now privately owned, it is only open for exterior viewing. The surviving elements show successive transformations: the church, rebuilt in 1468; the original Romanesque porch tower, remodeled in 1490 and covered in the 19th century; and the nave and choir in late Gothic style. The site suffered severe damage during the Peasants' War in 1525, then a fire in 1555, leading the religious community to abandon it permanently.
