Two Black Markers

Installed in the Cour des Chaînes, this work was purchased by the city of Mulhouse in 1991. It consists of two sculptures made of tightly packed and assembled pieces of wood.

Anne Marie Schoen, the artist, envisions them as visual markers, hence their evocative title. These structures could be placed in urban spaces to create an artistic route. The artist has created similar works for other locations or events, notably as part of art trails related to water.
