Uffholtz
Founded at the end of the 10th century, Uffholtz is located at the start of the ridge road and on the Alsace Wine Route. Its vineyard, covering 45 hectares, produces wines with a controlled designation of origin. The commune is especially known for its morello cherries, used by pastry chefs and distillers. Situated at the foot of Hartmannswillerkopf, Uffholtz was severely affected by World War I battles, suffering total destruction. Reconstruction began in 1920, allowing the commune to regain some of its former charm. Despite hardships, Uffholtz retains interesting architectural heritage, bearing witness to its history.
