Uhrwiller
Perched in a green setting, Uhrwiller is a rural village of 720 inhabitants that proudly cultivates its art of floral decoration and well-maintained living environment. Its built heritage, marked by half-timbered houses, reflects a rich history: most of these homes, including the oldest dating back to 1789, were built between 1800 and 1900. Seven dynamic associations enliven local life and uphold traditions while innovating for the future.
Committed to sustainable development, Uhrwiller focuses on renewable energies. Since 2007, a wood-fired heating plant has supplied a heat network, while a dedicated shed stores wood chips sourced from the communal forest. Its roof, covered with 850 m² of photovoltaic panels, produces about 100,000 kWh of electricity annually, illustrating the harmony between heritage, nature, and modernity.
