Urbeis

Dominated by the imposing ruins of Bilstein Castle, Urbeis is a Vosges village with a history deeply rooted in mining. Since the Middle Ages, its tunnels have extracted copper and silver, forever shaping the landscape and the lives of its inhabitants. Today, the heritage trail invites visitors to immerse themselves in this bygone era, tracing the stages of mining operations and their impact on the valley, while offering a unique insight into its industrial legacy.

The charm of Urbeis also lies in its Vosges farms, symbols of traditional architecture and a way of life deeply connected to the local land. The Miner's House, another must-see site, immerses visitors in the daily life of miners of the past, completing the exploration of this eventful history.

Finally, the Humbert farm, certified organic since 1990, continues local expertise by offering a range of farm products: meats, cheeses, and specialties grown and processed according to organic farming principles. A visit that reconnects with the authenticity of the terroir and the valley's traditions.
