Victor Schoelcher Museographic Space, His Work
Fessenheim is one of five sites in the Grand Est region listed on the "Route of the Abolition of Slavery and Human Rights," an international project supported by the UN as part of the "Slave Route."
At the heart of this initiative, the Victor Schœlcher museographic space occupies a medieval house dating from the 16th century. This site traces the journey of an exceptional man, mainly recognized for his fight against slavery.
Upon arrival, a carefully crafted scenography immerses you in the world of Victor Schœlcher. The route, marked by more than one hundred and fifty visuals, guides you from the outdoor totems to the interactive digital displays inside.
You will discover original works such as books, manuscripts, and newspapers, as well as period objects and porcelain signed by his father, Marc Schœlcher, who was from Fessenheim.
