Villé Valley Museum

At the heart of the village of Albé beats the historic core of this place with its heritage, traditions, and folk arts museum. This essential museum, rich in history, traces the lives of the inhabitants of the Villé Valley from the Ancien Régime to the end of the 19th century. Housed in a fully restored 18th-century farmhouse, the visit becomes a journey through time revealing the many facets of the men and women who shaped local history. Their skills, age-old traditions, remarkable buildings, and lifestyles in harmony with nature are highlighted, unveiling true treasures of the past.

The museum spans several buildings with varied architectures: a Vosges-inspired farm dating from 1709, a day laborer's house built in 1616, a former guardhouse, a distillery, and a surprising sandstone pavilion from 1873 topped with a Mansart slate roof. Inside, each space recreates an authentic atmosphere: the Stube (main room of the house), the kitchen, the bedroom, the stable, the hayloft, and the schoolroom are carefully reconstructed, furnished, and decorated to offer an immersive experience into a daily life now gone.
