Voegtlinshoffen

About ten kilometers southwest of Colmar, Voegtlinshoffen stretches along a hillside surrounded by vineyards. Accessible from the RN 83, this peaceful village charms visitors with its natural setting, offering an unobstructed view of the Alsace plain and, on clear days, the Alpine mountain range to the east, bordered by the Black Forest.

Unlike other Alsatian villages, it has neither half-timbered houses nor spiral staircases, as the Thirty Years' War nearly destroyed its old heritage. Rebuilt in a simple style, it now focuses on clean streets, warm hospitality in its wine cellars, and carefully tended floral displays, awarded the national "2 flowers" label, attracting those seeking calm and tranquility.

Wine is the village's main asset, notably its Grand Cru Hatschbourg, as well as the full range of quality Alsace wines. This reputation dates back to the 13th century when the Augustinians of Marbach already celebrated wines from the local monastic vineyard. An emblematic symbol, the Rabseppela—a small statuette depicting a winemaker holding a bunch of grapes—adorns the 18th-century octagonal fountain, a village gem. The winegrowers' association offers cellar tours with guided tastings to discover these treasures.

Another unique feature is the pink quartzite quarry, classified as a "biotope," which shelters peregrine falcons whose nests are protected. The parish church, built in Baroque style around 1750, houses altars and a pulpit listed as historical monuments, along with remarkable marquetry. A multi-sports field and a rest area complete the facilities for visitors.

Nature lovers can explore hiking and mountain biking trails, including those of the Route of the Five Castles, the Stauffen forest (904 meters), or the Schauenberg pilgrimage. Local heritage also includes the Saint Nicholas church, accessible upon request at the town hall, and the Little Winemaker's Fountain, a 20th-century landmark.
