Washhouse
This washhouse, likely built in the 19th century on the edge of the Sauer River, was still in use before World War II. Like other similar mobile washhouses still visible in Oberdorf-Spachbach and Gunstett, it is distinguished by its structure of six oak posts set on cement bases. Three wooden cylinders, located at the side ends and in the center, support wrought iron chains that allow the boards on the floor to be raised. These boards, on which the washerwomen knelt, could be adjusted to follow the river's level.
The central space, without boards, provided direct access to the water. The long-pitched roof, with gables closed by boards, is particularly overhanging on the side facing the square. It is supported by three posts and shelters a staircase descending to the washhouse.
