Wasselonne
Wasselonne, the administrative center of a canton with 5,725 inhabitants, lies at the heart of the Mossig Valley, making it the most populous commune in the Mossig and Vineyard community of communes. Surrounded by a natural setting of orchards and hills, it enjoys a privileged location at the foothills of the Vosges, close to the Wine Route. The area offers a great variety of landscapes: crops, vineyards, orchards, meadows, and forests, ideal for walks and excursions. The marked trails of the Vosgien Club allow visitors to explore the sub-Vosgian forest starting from the town.
The town has a rich historical past, reflected in its remarkable heritage. The remains of the medieval castle are still visible, while the Silbermann organ in the Protestant church and the half-timbered houses, some featuring carved lintels bearing the emblems of local trades, testify to this legacy. The lively town center offers numerous services, sports facilities, and leisure activities. Local associations enliven the town throughout the year with various events: theater evenings, sports events, dinner dances, concerts, film screenings, and a local produce market. At the end of the year, Wasselonne lights up for the holidays, hosting a Christmas market at the castle with activities and old-fashioned workshops for all ages.
In summer, the castle's Square Tower invites exploration, while the local wines will delight enthusiasts. Ideal for a peaceful vacation, this setting offers rest and rejuvenation.
