Wildersbach

Wildersbach is part of the turbulent history of the Ban-de-la-Roche lordship. The Reformation was introduced here in the 16th century by Georges-Jean de Veldence-Deux-Ponts, but the Thirty Years' War left deep scars by decimating the population. The commune also experienced dark episodes with witch trials, often followed by executions at La Perheux. Its economy was initially based on mining before the textile industry developed after 1860, declining in the 1970s.

Today, Wildersbach is turning towards new dynamics. Since 1994, the Pastoral Land Association "Le Wildbach" has enabled the opening of landscapes through the maintenance of areas by a collectively managed herd. The village also hosts the "Le Balcon du Donon" Holiday Center, owned by ADPEP 67, which welcomes green classes and activities related to circus and street arts. An educational project focused on memory and humanism is underway, inspired by nearby sites such as the Alsace-Moselle memorial in Schirmeck and the European Center of the Deported Resistance Fighter at Struthof.
