Windbreaker – Windbreak
This artistic installation, designed by Ilana Isehayek, a Canadian artist living in Alsace since 1989, presents itself as an original windbreaker. Its metal structure supports larch wood slats arranged orthogonally, evoking both the layout of a folding screen and that of an 18th-century reconciliation painting. The latter, created by Pastor Oberlin for educational purposes, inspired this work that plays with perspectives. Depending on the viewer's position, the slats create an anamorphic effect, doubling the reading of their surface. Thus, the names of the four cardinal points become successively readable, offering a unique visual experience to the walker. To access it, one can walk from the VVF of Saâles via a path closed to traffic, steep, long, and rocky, or drive from the village of Saint-Stail.
