Wineck Castle
Perched at 330 meters above sea level, the Wineck Castle overlooks the valley from a rocky spur. This historic monument, built around 1200, is nicknamed the "castle of the vines" due to the surrounding vineyards. Today, it houses a small museum open from April 1 to November 1, on Sundays and public holidays, from 2 pm to 6 pm. Visits can also be arranged on request for groups of up to 10 people, weather permitting, in French or German. Reservations are required at 03 89 47 85 63.
From this site, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of part of the Alsace Wine Route and the region's typical villages.
The Wineck is also great for family discovery with a fun walk in the Katzenthal valley of cats, featuring puzzles to solve. A picnic area allows for a tasty break along the way. For hiking enthusiasts, a pleasant walk through vineyards and forest leads to the castle ruins.
