Wingersheim

Since the 13th century, this Alsatian village was known for its wine quality. Today, another crop brings it fame: hops. Covering about 10% of its land, this region plays a key role in producing this essential plant for beer brewing. A local historical note adds to this agricultural tradition: Alain Bashung, the French singer and actor who passed away in 2009, spent his early years at the family farm, called 's Baschungs, with his adoptive grandmother, Élisabeth Battenstein, born in Düsseldorf in 1897.
