Wintzenheim
The earliest written records of Wintzenheim date back to the year 786, where the village appears under the name Wingisheim in a charter from the Murbach Abbey. Over the centuries, its name evolved: Vuinzenheim in 880, capella in Vinciheim in 952, Wincenheim in the 13th century, before taking its current form, Wintzenheim, in 1341. Historically, the locality was divided between two authorities: the majority belonged to the imperial bailiwick of Kaysersberg, while the rest was under the lordship of Hohlandsberg from the 15th century until the French Revolution.
