Wohlfahrtshoffen Chapel

On the way to Jaegerthal, the Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours chapel, also known as the Wohlfahrtshoffen chapel, bears witness to a history spanning from the 13th to the 18th century. Its choir, dating from the 14th century, is extended by a sacristy, while the nave, enlarged and enhanced between 1851 and 1852, leans against this ancient structure. Nearby, a spring called Kindelsbrunnen is at the heart of a local legend: at nightfall, the Virgin Mary, accompanied by the Child Jesus, is said to visit to take a baby, offering hope to sterile women who come seeking help at this pilgrimage site. Three times a day, at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 7 p.m., the Angelus rings, carried by two historic bells: the Edel bell, cast in 1732, and the De Leusse bell, dated 1880.
