Wolxheim

Nestled between the Bruche Canal and the Horn Hill, Wolxheim is a charming wine village located in the Strasbourg vineyard, about twenty kilometers from the European capital. Its landscape is marked by the Sacred Heart statue, erected in 1912 on Horn Hill as a symbol of peace. The village is renowned for its vineyard, especially its Riesling grape variety, considered Napoleon's favorite wine.

At the heart of the vineyards stands the Saint-Denis chapel, dating from the 16th century. It is surrounded by a cemetery where several statues by sculptor Philippe Grass, a native of Wolxheim, can be seen. He is also the author of the General Kléber statue in Strasbourg. The Canal district, with its elegant houses, was developed in 1682 during the digging of the Bruche Canal, linking Wolxheim to Strasbourg. Today, a pleasant bike path connects the two towns, offering a picturesque ride along the water.
