Workers' Houses

Towards the end of the 19th century, industrialists in the Bruche valley built workers' housing in series, reflecting the ideal of "minimum but sufficient" living conditions.

These homes often consisted of two main rooms, a kitchen, a cellar, and an attic, sometimes including a lean-to for family livestock.

Today, a few examples of these buildings remain in the region, notably in La Broque on General de Gaulle Street and in Schirmeck on Sanatorium Street, bearing witness to this industrial era and its living conditions.
