Zuckmantel House

The Zuckmantel House, built around the mid-15th century, is distinguished by its oriel, a projecting enclosed balcony on the facade. This architectural feature, carved in the Renaissance style in the mid-16th century, bears remarkable motifs: on the left, Saint George in armor battles the dragon, while on the right are the coat of arms of the Zuckmantel family. These prosperous merchant owners of the house are now illegible, erased during the upheavals of the French Revolution. Over the centuries, the building has housed various merchants and artisans. In the early 1900s, one of them, while enlarging his shop windows, damaged part of the balcony, causing the disappearance of symbols related to the baker's profession that were once displayed there.
